"The Dressmaker" Movie Review: A Perfect Fit Movie for a Beautiful Revenge!

We've seen several movies with women empowerment as plot, but this one's not your ordinary movie with similar genre. "The Dressmaker" is something fresh, unique, and outrageously beautiful to watch from start to finish. By far, Kate Winslet's Tilly Dunnage character is our most favorite character that she ever portrayed alongside with her Rose character in Titanic came in close second place, her Clementine character in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind came in third, and perhaps her Ms. Jeanine Matthews character in the Divergent series could come in the fourth place.

Tilly Dunnage's role, like they say in every dress shop, is a perfect fit, for Kate Winslet. The added glamour of the costumes and production design also helped in the glossy texture of the film. It always interests me how a simple look, whether in stare or overall package, could figuratively kill someone, and "The Dressmaker" movie has nailed it story-wise, which catches my attention.

What makes the movie strikingly interesting, of course, is not the wonderful dress creations worn in the movie, but also the seemed to be endless subplots that the movie have. Fortunately, everything was finally in order when redemption was acquired towards the end of the film. Tilly Dunnage may have been bitch-slapped at first, but guess what, revenge is sweeter if you dressed up for the occasion!

"The Dressmaker's" intricate details of intertwining lives, murder mystery, dark secrets, and different family issues all happening in a remote, middle-of-nowhere town of Dungatar, Australia are perfectly sewn and seamed together to create a finely- and uniquely-designed revenge, with the helped of couture dresses, that only a strong-willed and skilled lady such as Tilly Dunnage (played by Kate Winslet) can wear. A truly remarkable "if looks could kill" plot that every moviegoers will surely love!

"The Dressmaker" Plot/Summary/Synopsis

The movie is based on the best-selling novel "The Dressmaker" by Rosalie Ham, a bittersweet comedy-drama story set in the early 1950's Australia. When Tilly Dunnage (Kate Winslet), a beautiful and talented dressmaker, finally decided to come home to her remote town of Dungatar to reconcile to her estranged and ailing mother, Molly (played by Judy Davis) and to right the wrongs of the past that accused her of murdering a school child, she unexpectedly falls in love with pure-hearted Teddy (played by Liam Hemsworth), one of the town's mighty soccer players. Armed with her sewing machine and incredible sense of style, Tilly transforms the women in her town to get sweet revenge to those who did her wrong when she was a just a little girl.

Oh, did I mention that the actors and actresses in this movie are also perfectly fit for each role. Every scene is done fantastically and the cinematography is simply great and quite impressive. Amazingly, I think, there is no movie close enough to compare with "The Dressmaker". Totally delightful and fun to watch! Overall, because we enjoyed this movie, we give "The Dressmaker" a 10 out of 10 stars! Congratulations!
