Scarlett Johansson's "Lucy" Inspired From TV and Movie Plots?

I have watched the official movie trailer of Scarlett Johansson's upcoming movie "Lucy" where she plays a superhuman being after the drug she is about to deliver to a mob gangster in Taipei accidentally goes into her system and changes her brain capacity. This new action-packed thriller created and directed by Luc Besson feels like something that I have previously watched in TV or movies. The movie plot of "Lucy" may have been inspired from some of the following TV series and movies but I'm sure this one seems legit and original. Let's see the commonality of "Lucy" to some of my favorite TV series and movies.

  • Kyle XY. Do you still remember this defunct sci-fi series from ABC Family? If you are not familiar with it, Kyle XY is about a male teenager named Kyle who was found naked in the middle of a forest, with no memory of his past, and has no navel. While Kyle is discovering his true identity, he found out that he is equipped with superhuman abilities such as knowing how to fly a helicopter even without experience of operating it, the ability to somehow download an information using his mind, superfast swimming ability, able to predict patterns and coincidences just by observing any events or things, and many other forms of strange superhuman abilities. However, Kyle was not a product of any drugs or something. Kyle was the result of a cloning experiments in a laboratory where he and a girl (Jessie XX) of his kind where the only successful survivors of the experiment.

  • Hancock. Will Smith's dream of becoming a superhero with superhuman strength had finally came true when he starred in "Hancock" together with Charlize Theron. Hancock and his partner superhero Mary (played by Charlize Theron) are products of a laboratory experiment from decades ago. However, Hancock and Mary are each other's kryptonite, when Mary is around, Hancock becomes weak, and vice versa. But in this film, Hancock is really a superhero, "Lucy" on the other hand is an ordinary person who just turned superhuman. Have you find any similarities yet?

  • La Femme Nikita. I am not really a fan of La Femme Nikita series from TV and movies, but you really can't blame me from seeing "Lucy" to may have a similar plot because the creator of La Femme Nikita's Luc Besson is behind this beautiful creation. The super-skilled assassin Nikita was a drug addict and convicted to a murder she did not commit. The government drugged her to fake her death by lethal injection to make her an assassin working for the government. "Lucy" and Nikita's fate may be similar at one point. It only shows that Luc Besson really likes women as the protagonist of his stories.
So, what do you think guys? Is Scarlett Johansson's "Lucy" inspired from some TV series and movies? Share your thoughts to us below! Meanwhile, the following is the official movie trailer of "Lucy" starring Scarlett Johansson. Enjoy!
