Avatar is a 2009 epic science fiction film written and directed by James Cameron, and starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Sigourney Weaver, and Joel David Moore. The film's title refers to the genetically engineered Na'vi-human hybrid bodies used by a team of researchers to interact with the natives of Pandora.

Avatar is considered the most expensive movie ever maid costing over 300 million dollars. However, it is also considered the highest grossing movie in history with 2.8 billion dollars.

James Cameron will decide if he will shoot the two Avatar sequels at the same time.

Cameron also hinted that the Avatar sequels will have independent story and plot line.

"In the second and third films, which will be self-contained stories that also fulfill a greater story arc, we will not back off the throttle of `Avatar's' visual and emotional horsepower, and will continue to explore its themes and characters, which touched the hearts of audiences in all cultures around the world," Cameron said in a news release.
